LOS ANGELES, Oct 28 ― Russell Brand is stirring things up with ex-wife Katy Perry by saying that he found her to be “vapid and mindless”.

In his new documentary, “Brand: A Second Coming”, the comedian says he realised their lifestyles weren't compatible while doing charitable work in Africa.

“The stuff in Africa hit me really hard. I’m associated with the very thing I detest: vapid, vacuous, plastic, constructed, mindless celebrity. That’s the very sea we’re swimming in: ‘Oh, who’s he? He’s married to Katy Perry’.”

Brand’s bashing didn’t stop there: The comedian is also seen mocking Perry in a stand-up routine and admitting to his close friend, fellow comedian Stephen Merchant, that he didn’t think their marriage would last.

Brand and Perry, 31, wed in 2010, and the comedian filed for divorce 14 months later. According to Perry, Brand told her via a text message that he was divorcing.

According to HollywoodLife.com, “Katy is absolutely livid with Russell’s documentary. She’s obviously deeply upset that Russell still feels the need to air their dirty laundry in public. In her eyes the talk about their marriage split wasn’t necessary. But she also thinks Russell is using her, and the split, to generate more publicity for himself and paint himself as the good guy in this situation.”
