BEIJING, Oct 14 — Star couple Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy’s recent wedding is still hot on people’s lips but one Chinese talkshow host had less than flattering things to say about the ‘wedding of the century’.

Both stars had a real-life fairytale wedding, with Angelababy looking every bit the princess in her bespoke Dior gown and 6-carat diamond ring.

Reports say that the couple splashed out more than RMB200 million (RM132 million) on their wedding held at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre on October 1. The media described it as a ‘fairytale wedding’ with the grand ballroom transformed into a castle.

Not everyone was gushing about the wedding though. Famous Chinese talkshow host, Jin Xing, criticised the couple for their over-the-top extravagance. In a message posted on her Weibo account, she said that the wedding was nothing more than an ‘entertainment show for the world’, indirectly alluding to the lack of sincerity in the couple’s nuptials.

Comparing their wedding to yet another ‘fairytale wedding’ held last year, Jin Xing said that Jay Chou and Hannah Quinlivan’s wedding, while equally glamorous, was more private as no media coverage was allowed.

The talk show host added, “Jay gave Hannah Quinlivan a wedding. Xiaoming gave the media a wedding. What else can be said?”

Not surprisingly, her comments have sparked an intense debate among netizens.

Despite the controversy, the newly-wedded couple are unperturbed and enjoying their wedded bliss.
