TAIPEI, Sept 29 — It’s been months since Taiwanese pop star Vanness Wu and his wife, Singaporean socialite Arissa Cheo, have been spotted together.
The couple have been the subject of divorce rumours since their lavish wedding two years ago, and it appears the speculation about the state of their marriage is picking up pace once more.
It all began last week when Wu was spotted in Taipei allegedly living it up with friends until the early hours of the morning.
Gossip site On.CC reported that the “Asia’s Got Talent” judge also met up with his friends for a meal a few days later.
Apparently, everyone brought a female companion along, and Wu was the only one without one.
When approached, Wu’s record company declined to comment and emphasised that the couple’s marriage was a private matter.
The latest twist in the couple’s relationship comes after it was reported that Wu was noticeably absent from Cheo’s 33rd birthday celebrations in July.
When Wu’s birthday rolled around in August, his wife was abroad attending a wedding.
The former F4 member has also missed family gatherings, reportedly skipping a family dinner with Cheo’s parents, her younger brother Elroy and his superstar girlfriend Elva Hsiao.
The couple have also done nothing to quell the gossip by appearing to trade barbs on Instagram, with Cheo writing ambiguous posts apparently hinting at her unhappiness with her 37-year-old husband.
A particularly pointed Instagram post by Cheo in July was captioned in part: “I’ve sucked it up and kept silent, been there done that, while I ended up being vilified as the ‘cheater’ and ‘wild party girl’ who’s ‘not good enough’.”
In an apparent response, Wu posted a photo on his Instagram account later that same day which read: “What if we all love each other”, accompanied by a single curt comment: “Seriously”.
Watch this space, folks.
