JAKARTA, Sept 27 — Back in May, Malay Mail Online reported that Malaysian actor Bront Palarae would be joining the cast for the new HBO Asia original series “Halfworlds” directed by Indonesian filmmaker Joko Anwar.
The dark thriller is a fantastical tale of love, redemption and betrayal set in present day Jakarta. It follows a young street artist who uncovers her true origins when she finds herself unintentionally caught in between a battle of humans and demons.
Little is known about the character that Bront will play, except that he is called Detective Gusti, according to IMDB.
Apart from the award-winning Malaysian actor, the series also stars an ensemble cast of leading Indonesian cast including Salvita Decorte, Arifin Putra, Reza Rahadian, Aimee Saras, Adinia Wirasti, Hannah Al-Rashid, Tara Basro Si Boy, Alex Abbad, Ario Bayu, and Verdi Solaiman.
The star-studded cast are also joined by Singaporean singer Nathan Hartono and eight-year-old Malaysian child actress Puteri Balqis — the best actress winner of the 2014 Asian Television Awards — who will appear in the series as a guest star.
The eight-part hour-long series will premiere on November 29, with the debut episode streaming on Facebook shortly after that.
