LOS ANGELES, Sept 26 — The movie industry utilises makeup not just to hide imperfections and beautify actors, but also to create seemingly impossible characters for the screen.
CineFix highlights their choice for the top 10 makeup transformations of all time, bringing to light movie magic from both classics like ‘Frankenstein’, ‘The Elephant Man’ and ‘Tootsie’, to more modern movies like ‘Planet of the Apes’ and the original ‘X-Men’.
Actor Dustin Hoffman, shown in this screenshot taken from the CineFix video, reportedly refused to take the role of Tootsie unless he can pass as a woman while walking down the streets of New York City.
The video also highlights the reason behind the creation of the Academy Award for Best Makeup, and how the makeup for one single movie delayed the production of dozens of other Hollywood movies at the time.
