LOS ANGELES, Sept 20 — Jimmy Fallon had fun in yet another hilarious “The Tonight Show” sketch, this time recreate Lionel Richie’s iconic music video for “Hello”.
That memorable video concludes with Richie’s blind love interest sculpting a clay bust of the singer’s face, despite not knowing what he looks like. And like the original music video, Fallon stood in an art studio, crafting a "clay bust" of Richie and painting his portrait. Rather than actually clay, however, Richie himself was ensconced in the table — with only his head peeking up out.
Jimmy only makes it about halfway into the sketch before breaking into laughter and having to distract himself with a chunk of clay. Richie himself nearly loses it a couple times, but somehow manages to hold off the giggles as he powers through the ballad.
Somehow, Fallon singing a duet with Richie’s disembodied head is still less weird than seeing that actual clay bust of Richie from the original video.
