Cate Blanchett to receive honorary fellowship at London Film Festival

LOS ANGELES, Aug 28 ― The Australian actress will be awarded an honorary fellowship by the British Film Institute for her lifelong contribution to film.

Cate Blanchett is to be presented with a lifetime achievement award by the board of directors at the BFI for “outstanding achievement in film and television,” it was announced on August 27. Blanchett will receive the award during the London Film Festival, on the same night as the UK premiere for the highly-anticipated movie “Truth” in which she stars with Robert Redford. Blanchett will add the honour to her two Academy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and three British Academy Awards.

Previous recipients of the BFI fellowship include Al Pacino, Judi Dench, Helena Bonham Carter, Stephen Frears, Mike Leigh and Mel Brooks. The BFI London Film Festival will take place October 7-18. ― AFP-Relaxnews
