LOS ANGELES, Aug 11 — AMC’s “Into the Badlands”, starring Hong Kong heart-throb Daniel Wu, will premiere in the US on November 15, right after “The Walking Dead”.
in the martial arts drama, Wu plays a skilled warrior who embarks on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.
Accompanying him is a young boy named MK (Aramis Knight). Along the way, Sunny will turn MK into a martial artist of unrivalled skill.
According to Variety, the six-episode series was created by writer-showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “Smallville”).
It is based on the classic Chinese story “Journey to the West” and will have a “retro, dystopian feel,” Variety added.
Fellow Hong Kong actor Stephen Fung serves as the series’ fight director. He is also executive producer, along with David Dobkin (“The Judge,” “Wedding Crashers,” “Shanghai Knights”), Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg (“Pulp Fiction,” “Contagion”) and Wu.
Deadline reported in July that each episode will have at least five minutes’ worth of fight scenes, and if the trailer shown at Comic-Con is anything to go by, they’ll be bloody and high octane.
