LOS ANGELES, July 30 — Scriptwriters Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow have been tapped to pen New Line Cinema’s upcoming remake of “Shaft.”

John Davis, who is at work on the upcoming “Man from UNCLE” remake, and Ira Napoliello are to produce the film.

The original 1971 “Shaft” film tells the story of a private detective named John Shaft as he takes on a job to find a girl missing from her Harlem home.

Barris is the creator of sitcom “Black-ish” which airs on US network ABC. — AFP-Relaxnews
