LONDON, July 24 — Keep an eye out for David Beckham if you’re planning to watch “The Man from UNCLE.”
According to various media reports, the 40-year-old retired footballer will appear in the action thriller directed by close friend Guy Ritchie.
The reboot of the cult 60s TV series stars Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer and Hugh Grant. It opens in Malaysia on August 13.
Rumours of Beckham’s involvement in the film escalated after his wife Victoria shared a photo of her husband on Instagram, grinning at the camera and pointing at a set of movie posters behind him.
The caption read: “Excited to see The Man from UNCLE! @guyritchie @davidbeckham x vb #MANfromUNCLE,” wrote Victoria, 41.
Shortly after that, Ritchie told Access Hollywood: “He’s in the film. He’s in there... He’s marginally disguised, but he’s in the movie. I mean, once you know who it is, you’ll know who it is!”
The Sun, meanwhile, quoted a source as revealing that Beckham’s character is responsible for assigning a mission to two agents.
This may not be the last time that the former England captain will work with Ritche.
The source added, “Guy thinks it’s great Becks is involved. It would make great viewing seeing him pop up as random characters in future.”
Last month, reports surfaced that Beckham may also appear in “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur”, which just started shooting and is due for release next summer.
