LOS ANGELES, July 21 — US pop star Miley Cyrus has announced she’ll be hosting this year’s MTV VMAs, set to air live on August 30.

Cyrus announced the news via Instagram in two side-by-side images reading “MTV won’t let me perform” “so I’m hosting this year’s VMAs.”

MTV later confirmed the news.

Cyrus won the award for Video of the Year for her hit single “Wrecking Ball” at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, a year after she made headlines for a VMAs performance that involved twerking on stage.

The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards are set to air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 9pm on August 30.

Nominations will be announced Tuesday at 10am ET via the Beats 1 “Charts” show on Apple Music, with voting to open an hour later on vma.mtv.com. — AFP-Relaxnews
