LOS ANGELES, April 14 — British actress Kate Winslet made a return to the red carpet yesterday for the UK premiere of her new film ‘A Little Chaos’ although she was a little unsure how long she’d been away from the media spotlight.

‘A Little Chaos’ is a fictional and loosely historical film about the creation of the gardens of the Palace of Versailles.

Winslet plays the young widow Sabine De Barra, who is asked to interview for the assignment of creating the Rockwork Grove in the gardens by the landscape architect Andre Le Notre (Matthias Schoenaerts).

While at first there is a frostiness between the two, soon the pair embark on a friendship which borders on romance.

Although Winslet is seen weeding and chopping down plants to create the area, the experience of playing an experienced gardener didn’t pay off.

‘Harry Potter’ actor Alan Rickman directed the film and took on the role of Louis XIV, who was the king at the time of the creation of Versailles.

Although the cast admitted he did allow a little chaos on set, he would not permit the use of makeup for both Winslet and Helen McCrory, who plays Andre Le Notre’s scheming wife. Winslet worked together with her director Alan Rickman twenty years ago on the film ‘Sense and Sensibility’.

“A Little Chaos” is due for release in the UK on April 17, and will be on North American screens at the end of June. — Reuters
