LOS ANGELES, Jan 28 — Somehow women and ghosts have never seem to click on the big screen but things are going to be changing now. It seems the rumours are true: The next “Ghostbusters” movie will feature an all-female cast according to details shared by director Paul Feig.
Paul Feig and co-writer Katie Dippold took to Twitter on Monday to announce the apparent cast by sharing pictures of all four actress-comediennes. So who did Feig call? It seems “Bridesmaids” alumni Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, plus “Saturday Night Live” stars Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon got top selection.
The news comes after Feig, who directed “Bridesmaids”, tweeted in October, “It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.”
According to a story posted by The Hollywood Reporter discussions with key cast members were “ongoing”.
Feig also tweeted yesterday that the movie would be hitting theatres in July, saying: “In other news, #Ghostbusters will be hitting theaters July 22, 2016. Save the date!”
A screengrab from director Paul Feig’s Twitter reveals the all-female case who will star in the new ‘Ghostbusters’ movie.
