LOS ANGELES, Sept 28 — Bernard Rose of “Candyman” fame will direct Xavier Samuel, Danny Huston and Carrie-Anne Moss in a modern-day interpretation of the iconic novel “Frankenstein”.

Rose is directing from his own adaptation of Mary Shelly’s 1818 classic horror, with its enduring themes of power, creativity and control.

Xavier Samuel of “The Twilight Saga” and “Fury” takes the lead role of Frankenstein’s monster, with Danny Huston (“Boardwalk Empire”) as Victor Frankenstein and Carrie-Ann Moss his fiancée Elizabeth.

But where the original novel follows Victor as he constructs and then struggles to deal with the consequences of his unnatural progeny, Bernard Rose’s “Frankenstein” will adopt the perspective of The Monster.

Also named is horror film icon Tony Todd, who had the title role in the “Candyman” films and was recurrent character William Bludworth in the “Final Destination” series.

After “Candyman,” Rose went on to adapt Tolstoy’s “The Death of Ivan Ilyich” as “Ivansxtc” and “Anna Karenina” as a 1997 film of the same name; “sxtape” and “Snuff-Movie” were not well received though more recent biopic “Mr. Nice” and more recent Jack Huston film “Two Jacks” fared better. — AFP-Relaxnews
