LOS ANGELES, July 5 — After Devon Aoki, Peter Stormare is the latest name associated with the CW’s superhero series ahead of its third season. According to TV Guide, the Swedish-American actor will play an updated incarnation of the supervillain Count Vertigo.
A veteran actor known for playing John Abruzzi on “Prison Break,” among countless other roles, Stormare will join “Arrow” as Werner Zytle, whose supervillain alter-ego goes by the name Vertigo. The character is a successor to the Count, the villain played by Seth Gabel until the character’s death at the end of season two.
The show has also been boarded by Karl Yune, TV Line reports. The actor will appear in the role of Maseo Yamashiro, a martial arts expert like his wife Katana, who will be played by Devon Aoki (“Sin City”). The couple will serve as mentors to the protagonist Oliver, played by Stephen Amell.
Fans can expect to see at least one more new face in “Arrow” season three. A few weeks ago, TV Line announced that the show’s producers are preparing to introduce a character reminiscent of the Scarecrow, a villain faced by Batman and portrayed on the big screen by Cillian Murphy in “Batman Begins.”
Launched in the autumn of 2012 on the CW, “Arrow” follows a billionaire playboy, Oliver Queen, who has spent five years alone on a desert island in the Pacific due to a shipwreck. Upon returning home, he aims to right the wrongs committed by his family in the past. In secret, he comes up with the alter ego of the Green Arrow and crusades to rid Starling City of crime. — AFP-Relaxnews
