LOS ANGELES, June 13 — Check out the latest action movie news, with ‘Movie Munch Roundup’.
It looks like director David Fincher and actress Rooney Mara might reunite for a new project. We may never see a sequel to David’s 2011 adaptation of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, which Rooney starred in, but we may get the next best thing — a new Fincher action thriller called ‘Red Sparrow’ featuring Mara as a sexy spy. Based on the book of the same name, the adaptation is being written by ‘American Hustle’s’ Eric Warren Singer.
‘Avatar’ director James Cameron set some rumours to rest recently about the movie’s upcoming sequels. Cameron and actress Sigourney Weaver have a long on-screen history together, dating back to 1986’s ‘Aliens’. So naturally, the director wanted her back for his ‘Avatar’ sequels, but her character was killed off in the first film. Now Cameron has revealed that the actress will be returning, but in a new, “more challenging” role.
And finally, ‘Pacific Rim’ director Guillermo del Toro is apparently hard at work on a sequel to his hit 2013 monsters and robots flick. Though some sources had previously indicated the next picture might be a prequel, del Toro insists that he is not interested in going backward, and that he wants a new storyline for Charlie Hunnam’s character Raleigh Becket. — Cover Media
