LOS ANGELES, May 28 — It’s graduation season and funny man Jim Carrey is among the many people being recognised for their academic dedication.

Jim’s just become an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts thanks to a university in Iowa, and naturally the actor showed his rubber face in order to deliver a speech and declare his gratitude.

Jim spoke to over 280 graduates and their families about making decisions in life, but he also shared a very personal story about his father, a man who Jim says “could have been a great comedian” had he not “made a conservative choice” to become an accountant.

Carrey’s story then continued on to points like the fact that “you could fail at what you don’t love, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.” Then, changing his tune and speaking about his own career in comedy, Jim announced that “the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency.”
