LOS ANGELES, April 26 — The fourth and final season of “The Killing” will be available to Netflix subscribers from August 1, the video platform has announced. Consisting of just six episodes (compared to 12 or 13 in previous seasons), the show’s final run will conclude the story of the detectives Sarah Linden and Stephen Holden, played by Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman.

As it turns out, “The Killing” will have a proper conclusion after all thanks to the online streaming service, which picked up where AMC left off.

The cable network launched the crime drama in April 2011, canceled it the following year, revived it in spring 2013 and then re-canceled it in the fall. To the delight of fans, Netflix stepped in to bring the show back for one last investigation, in which the show’s detectives will look into a murder at a military academy.

The last six episodes will also give viewers more insight into Sarah Linden’s personal life, including her family history, through the arrival of her birth mother. The latter character will be played by Frances Fisher, who currently stars in ABC’s new fantasy series “Resurrection”. — AFP-Relaxnews
