NEW YORK, March 25 — Bella Thorne, star of Disney Channel's “Shake It Up”,  and Jennifer Jason Leigh (“The Spectacular Now”) will headline a new feature on the Amityville Horror franchise from Blumhouse, the studio behind “Paranormal Activity” and “The Purge”.

Leigh will play a single mother who moves into the cursed house with her three children.

The film will be helmed by French filmmaker Franck Khalfoun, who garnered attention in the horror film world with his 2012 movie “Maniac”, a remake of William Lustig’s 1980 classic.

The new version of “The Amityville Horror” is scheduled for release on January 2, 2015. The feature will join the list of nearly a dozen others inspired by Jay Anson's 1977 book “The Amityville Horror: A True Story”.
