LOS ANGELES, Feb 7 — Sony Pictures is recruiting the director behind “Horrible Bosses” and “Identity Thief” to direct this feature about the adventures of amateur archeologist Nathan Drake.
According to Deadline.com, Seth Gordon is currently in talks with the Hollywood studio for the position.
The director follows in the footsteps of David O. Russell and Neil Burger, both of whom were once attached to the project. In light of Gordon’s previous work, it seems likely that “Uncharted” will have a comedic slant.
Something of a cross between “Tomb Raider” and “Indiana Jones,” the “Uncharted” franchise was created in 2007 through a game for the PlayStation 3 console.
The series tells the story of Nathan Drake, a seasoned treasure hunter and direct descendent of the explorer Sir Francis Drake.
Nearly 20 million copies of the four “Uncharted” games have been sold worldwide.
The video game developer Naughty Dog has announced the forthcoming release of a fifth game for the PlayStation 4, the console launched by Sony last November. No specific release dates were mentioned. — AFP-Relaxnews
