LOS ANGELES, Dec 17 ― The British actress, seen in “Game of Thrones,” has landed the female lead in the forthcoming reboot of the “Terminator” franchise.
The producers of the new trilogy ultimately chose Emilia Clarke over Brie Larson ("Short Term 12"), the other young starlet in the running to play Sarah Connor. The 26-year-old actress follows in the footsteps of Linda Hamilton, who played the character in film, and of her “Game of Thrones” co-star Lena Headey, seen in the role on TV.
The new Sarah Connor will make her debut in “Terminator: Genesis,” expected to arrive in theatres in July 2015. The young woman will once again be seen evading a murderous cyborg sent from the future to prevent her from giving birth to John Connor, the future leader of the human resistance movement, who could be played in the coming movie by Jason Clarke.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will return to the role of the heartless Terminator, which he first took on in 1984, under the direction of James Cameron.
“Terminator: Genesis” will be directed by Alan Taylor (“Thor: The Dark World”). The feature will kick off a new film trilogy as well as a TV series based on the reboot. ― AFP-Relaxnews
