LOS ANGELES, Nov 14 — The dark comedy, in which Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner played a couple in the midst of an extremely bitter divorce, will soon have a sequel. Like the original 1989 film, the sequel will be based on the writings of novelist Warren Adler.

Deadline.com reports that Grey Eagle Films and Permut Presentations have partnered to produce this adaptation of Adler's “The War of the Roses - The Children.”

Few details have surfaced on the project, which is still in the early stages. The comedy will take place several years after the first film, showing the disastrous consequences of Barbara and Oliver Rose's divorce on their now adult children, Evie and Peter.

Released in December 1989, “The War of the Roses” explored the traumatic experience of divorce from the angle of dark humour. Danny DeVito, who played a supporting role in the film, also directed it. — AFP-Relaxnews
