LOS ANGELES, Nov 4 — “Thor: The Dark World” earned a total of US$109.4 million (RM347.1 million) around the world over the weekend ending November 3, Rentrak reports.
Released in 36 territories, Chris Hemsworth's movie comes as a game changer, pushing Alfonso Cuaron's space thriller “Gravity” to the second spot with a total of US$40.23 million over the same period.
The adaptation of Orson Scott Card's sci-fi novel “Ender's Game” came in third place with US$30 million. The movie currently tops the box office in North America (where “Thor” is not yet out) after earning US$28 million domestically.
With US$26.5 million, “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” occupies the fourth position this week. Fifth, ”Sole A Catinelle” brought in US$18.5 million in Italy alone. The movie by Gennaro Nunziante ties in with “Captain Phillips” starring Tom Hanks. — AFP-Relaxnews
