LOS ANGELES, Sept 23 — The two stars are in the running to take the title roles in a film adaptation based on the role-playing video game.

According to Deadline.com, Irish actor Colin Farrell (“Dead Man Down”) and American actress Paula Patton (“Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol”) have been approached to star in the film adaptation, which will be directed by Duncan Jones.

The British filmmaker who made a name for himself with “Moon” and “Source Code” will be in charge of bringing the “Warcraft” universe to the silver screen.

Launched in 1994, the Blizzard Entertainment franchise revolves around ongoing wars between members of the Alliance and members of the opposing Horde in the fantasy world of Azeroth.
