LOS ANGELES, Aug 15 — For the first time in history, a film with Brad Pitt has brought in US$500 million (RM1.64 billion) in global revenues, Paramount Pictures has announced.
The combination of Brad Pitt and zombies proved to be a highly attractive one to moviegoers around the world this summer, leading to global revenues of US$502.6 million for “World War Z” since its release in the US on June 21.
The star reached a new milestone with this apocalyptic thriller, his first to cross the half-billion-dollar mark. With around 40 film credits to his name, the actor has come close to this exploit in the past, particularly through his 2004 performance as Achilles in “Troy.” The epic film brought in US$497.4 million before the end of its theatre run. “World War Z” also proved more lucrative than “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (US$478.2 million) and “Ocean’s Eleven” (US$450.7 million). — AFP/Relaxnews
