LONDON, July 1 — Mysterious artist Dornik has just dropped his debut single, “Something About You,” which has been described as “without question this year’s greatest R&B debut” (I Found Music).
Who?
Dornik is a UK-based R&B/electro artist whose first track dropped via PMR records, which is also home to artists such as Jessie Ware and producer Julio Bashmore. In keeping with the recent trend for artists to remain very much unknown as a means of building buzz, very little is known about Dornik. What is known, however, is that he was a former drummer for label mate Jessie Ware’s touring band and appears to have some kind of link with Guy and Howard Lawrence, who make up UK electro act Disclosure. Music blog Listen Before You Buy claims that his full name is Dornik Leigh.
Why the buzz?
For someone who just released his debut track, “Something About You,” in June, Dornik is causing a huge buzz across the indie and alt. music blogs. The track has been described as having a “similar forward-thinking production style to Disclosure and Jessie Ware, and vocally he’s up there with today’s best R&B singers (Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Miguel) but also reminiscent at times of pioneers like MJ or Prince” (Brooklyn Vegan); and as “an addictive groover rooted in R&B” (All Things Go Music). Music blog The Music Ninja is also, like many others, a fan of the track, writing “there’s just something about the soothing vocals that makes you want to kick back and relax by the pool, but also get up and dance your ass off at the same time.”

Where to see?
With Dornik keeping such a low profile, there appear to be no immediate plans for gigs. He does not even currently appear listed in PMR’s artists stable. However keep an eye on his very, very sparse Facebook, where there is only one post announcing his single. – AFP-Relaxnews
