NEW YORK, Nov 26 — “The Dark Knight III: The Master Race”, the third instalment in Frank Miller’s seminal Batman comic series hit shelves yesterday.

One of the most eagerly anticipated comic book releases of recent years, Miller’s latest Batman story, co-written with Brian Azzarello, with artwork by Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson, explores the issues superheroes, namely Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman, face when trying to raise a family.

When Miller, famous for creating the “Sin City” comic series, first turned his attention to Batman with “Year One” he revolutionized the perception of the character, and themes from that story, along with those explored in the epic first “Dark Knight” instalment published in 1986, fed directly into Christopher Nolan’s take on the character for his similarly epic trilogy of Batman films while simultaneously making the graphic novel mainstream.

“Frank’s work on Dark Knight has been instrumental in changing the way that fans around the world see Batman,” said Dan DiDio and Jim Lee, Co-Publishers for DC Entertainment.

“We’re looking forward to Frank, Brian, Andy and Klaus presenting the same groundbreaking art and storytelling that has made the Dark Knight saga a watershed title in not only comics, but popular literature as well.” — AFP-Relaxnews
