DENVER, June 5 — Hunter S. Thompson’s widow is planning to convert the Aspen-area farm where he lived for more than 35 years into a museum.

Anita Thompson told The Cannabist that she is “working to make it a museum.”

“That’s why these rooms have remained the way Hunter left them.

“At first it brought me comfort, and then over the last few years, I’ve kept it this way simply because it is history.

“I want others to experience it.”

She added that the museum will be dedicated to Thompson’s bestselling writing and singular way of life.

The property called Owl Farm is currently closed to the public because it is Anita’s private residence.

Thompson is widely credited as the father of gonzo journalism. His novels included “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” and “The Rum Diary”.

He lived on the property from 1969 and took his own life there in 2005.
