LONDON, March 12 ― Keith Richards and his daughter Theodora have taken an anecdote from the Rolling Stones songwriter's memoir Life and turned it into children's story Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar.

Theodora handles illustrations on the September 9 release, which tells the story of her father and his own ancestor, Theodore Augustus Dupree, who was a member of a jazz big band.

As such, it takes readers back to Keith's own childhood, an opportunity that Theodora couldn't turn down.

“When I found out they wanted me to be a part of this project, my immediate instinct was to say yes, and I am so happy I did,” Theodora said as part of Little, Brown's publisher statement.

“To be able to explore my father's relationship with his grandfather was a gift in itself. The things that I've learnt during this whole process have just been life affirming.”

The sentiment was shared by Keith himself, who has just become a grandfather for the fifth time.

“The bond, the special bond, between kids and grandparents is unique and should be treasured. This is a story of one of those magical moments. May I be as great a grandfather as Gus was to me.” ― AFP-Relaxnews
