South Korean stocks plunge 11pc as tech giants Samsung, SK hynix tumble

HONG KONG, July 29 — South Korean stocks plunged more than 11 per cent Wednesday as the tech rout that has hammered the market in recent weeks deepened, with chipmakers SK hynix and Samsung collapsing.

The Kospi index tanked 11.4 per cent to 5,338.56, with SK hynix down 18 per cent and Samsung 12.5 per cent lower. 

The selloff extended an almost 11 per cent dive for the Kospi on Tuesday. — AFP
