Communications sec-gen: #mydigitalmaker Fair helps ensure availability of skilled labour in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Students and teachers are urged to take on the challenge of exploring fields related to digitalisation as they are crucial for the future.

Communications and Digital Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa said the government is always paying attention to current developments, especially in the high-tech industry.

He said that the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently is able to make Malaysia a leading nation in high-tech industry through clear goals and missions.

One of the missions is to drive large-scale industrial transformation by expediting digitalisation to build a technologically advanced nation. This will boost the digital transformation field, providing opportunities to young people in new job sectors.

"Therefore, enhance your knowledge and skills in the digital world through this #mydigitalmaker programme. Realise your dream according to your creativity, so that you can explore the wide-open digital economy,” he said in his speech when officiating at the #mydigitalmaker Fair at the Quill City Mall here today.

The three-day #mydigitalmaker Fair, which runs until tomorrow, provides various training and learning activities that play a crucial role in ensuring the availability of skilled labour in this country.

The carnival is a flagship programme under the national #mydigitalmaker initiative led by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in collaboration with the Education Ministry.

Mohamad Fauzi said that through the initiative, students can equip themselves with digital skills by participating in various technology-based programmes such as coding, drones, artificial intelligence and game development.

"I was informed that 2.5 million participants have joined the #mydigitalmaker programmes since 2017. This is a remarkable achievement.

"I also would like to congratulate all participants of various programmes and challenges throughout this carnival, such as Creativity @ Schools and Battle of Digital Ninja,” he said.

Mohamad Fauzi said the #mydigitalmaker Fair is also one of the events under the Malaysia Digital Expo (MDX) 2023, a premier event organised by MDEC featuring various exciting and comprehensive activities, including exhibitions, symposiums and conferences.

He also welcomed everyone to the highlight event of MDX 2023 that will take place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) from November 6 to 8.

"During the event, MDX 2023 will showcase all the capabilities, bring together expertise and demonstrate the country’s capacity in the field of the digital economy,” he said. — Bernama
