KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 ― Bursa Malaysia’s barometer index was lower at mid-afternoon with CelcomDigi emerging among the top losers among heavyweights.
At 3.05pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 4.12 points to 1,383.00 from 1,387.12 at yesterday's close.
The key index opened 3.82 points weaker at 1,383.30 this morning.
Losses were seen across almost all sectors, save for the transportation and logistics as well as plantation indices which posted modest gains.
The broader market was negative with decliners outpacing advancers 476 to 259, while 395 counters were unchanged, 1,110 untraded and 27 others suspended.
Turnover stood at RM1.95 billion worth RM1.11 billion.
Among the heavyweights, CelcomDigi lost 11 sen to RM4.36, MISC dipped nine sen to RM7.21, Petronas Chemicals decreased five sen to RM6.51, and PPB Group dropped 28 sen to RM15.98.
Press Metal and Maxis each rose seven sen to RM4.68 and RM4.18 respectively.
Among the actives, Synergy House, which made its ACE Market debut today, fell seven sen to 36 sen from its initial public offering price of 43 sen. Meanwhile, Borneo Oil fell half-a-sen to 1.5 sen, Dagang NeXchange was 2.5 sen higher at 44.5 sen, and YTL Corp eased six sen to 91 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index dwindled 43.11 points to 10,199.98, the FBMT 100 Index gave up 42.35 points to 9,907.16, the FBM Emas Shariah Index declined 56.68 points to 10,549.83, the FBM ACE Index trimmed 22.10 points to 4,925.14, and FBM 70 Index slipped 110.90 points to 13,545.97.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index slid 9.72 points to 15,197.02 and the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.55 of-a-point to 158.56, the Energy Index shed 3.09 points to 806.35, but the Plantation Index improved by 3.15 points to 6,604.23. ― Bernama
