KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 ― Bursa Malaysia's main index stayed lower at mid-morning in line with the weaker overnight performance on Wall Street and mixed sentiments in regional peers.
At 11.01am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 4.0 points to 1,421.07 from yesterday's close of 1,425.07.
The barometer index opened 3.57 points firmer at 1,428.64.
The market breadth stayed negative as decliners surpassed gainers 315 versus 249, while 363 counters were unchanged, 1,372 untraded and 18 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 920.71 million units worth RM491.94 million.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank and CIMB shed two sen each to RM8.67 and RM5.20, while Public Bank lost four sen to RM3.93, Petronas Chemicals fell one sen to RM7.20 and CelcomDigi eased three sen to RM4.40.
On the active counters, Revenue added 1.5 sen to 41.5 sen, Dataprep gained one sen to 22 sen, MY E.G slid two sen to 80 sen, Salutica declined 18 sen to 98 sen and Vinvest Capital was unchanged at 20 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index decreased by 22.64 points to 10,453.16, the FBMT 100 Index lost 22.82 points to 10,137.19 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index slipped 18.49 points to 10,787.84.
The FBM 70 index contracted by 7.32 points to 13,683.80 while the FBM ACE Index was 2.84 points better at 5,355.43 .
Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index trimmed 0.05 of a point to 172.32, the Healthcare Index narrowed 1.59 points to 1,789.80, the Financial Services Index weakened 43.29 points to 15,647.29 and the Energy Index eased 1.20 points to 858.99. ― Bernama
