KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 — Short-term interbank rates closed steady today on Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) operations to absorb surplus liquidity from the financial system.
Liquidity in the conventional system declined to RM35.27 billion from RM39.34 billion this morning while Islamic funds’ liquidity fell to RM29.17 billion from RM30.49 billion previously.
Earlier today, the central bank conducted one conventional money market tender, one commodity Murabahah programme tender and three Qard tenders.
It has also announced the availability of reverse repo, sale and buy-back agreements and collateralised commodity Murabahah facilities for tenors of one to three months.
At 4 pm, BNM called for a RM35.3 billion conventional money market tender and a RM28.2 billion Murabahah money market tender, both for one-day money.
The central bank has also revised Murabahah overnight tender to RM28.2 billion from RM27 billion.
