KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 ― Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning on profit-taking and in line with the weaker Wall Street performance overnight.
At 11.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell by 4.53 points to 1,476.40 from yesterday's closing of 1,480.93. The market bellwether opened 1.40 points weaker at 1,479.53.
Market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers 383 to 251 gainers, while 356 counters were unchanged, 1,220 untraded and nine others suspended.
Turnover amounted to 1.63 billion units worth RM580.90 million.
Among the heavyweights, IHH Healthcare rose five sen to RM6.06, Digi eased one sen to RM3.87, Hong Leong Bank rose 10 sen to RM20.44, Maybank trimmed four sen to RM8.74, Public Bank eased one sen to RM4.29, and Petronas Chemicals shed five sen to RM8.35.
As for the actives, ACE-market debutant DS Sigma surged 15.5 sen to 70.5 sen, Zen Tech rose one sen to 3.5 sen, Revenue Group gained 2.5 sen to 51 sen, Borneo Oil was flat at two sen, and Citaglobal shed half-a-sen sen to 35 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index dipped 20.70 points to 10,614.27, the FBMT 100 Index went down 26.0 points to 10,322.34, the FBM Emas Shariah Index declined 20.95 points to 10,813.60, the FBM 70 Index fell 8.04 points to 13,048.06, and the FBM ACE Index edged down 0.55 of-a-point to 5,371.75.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 26.17 points easier to 16,398.19, the Plantation Index decreased 25.94 points to 6,938.87, the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.70 of-a-point to 181.16, and the Energy Index advanced 4.58 points to 778.46. ― Bernama
