Agriculture Ministry allocated over RM1.2m to assist target groups in Kelantan

PASIR PUTEH, Nov 14 — The Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry (Mafi), through the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (Kada), has allocated over RM1.2 million to help 168 target groups in Kelantan this year.

Agriculture and Food Industries Deputy Minister II Datuk Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh said the allocation included the Young Agropreneurs programme with a total of 25 participants, which received an allocation of RM500,000; the Change Upgrade Product matching grant of RM411,000 (31 participants); and the Farmers’ Livelihood Programme which received RM160,000 (16 participants).

"We also will provide RM154,106 to 71 farmers after their crops were severely affected by a storm under the Padi Crop Disaster Fund.

"Apart from this, we also have assisted 25 participants through an allocation of RM25,000 to ensure the continuity and smoothness of the national food supply chain,” he told reporters when officiating at the Semarak Tani programme in Bandar Baru Tok Janggut here today.

Over 300 residents in the area participated in the three-day programme which started today (Nov 14) by participating in various activities such as the My Best Buy Keluarga Malaysia Carnival, Kenduri Rakyat and Sukan Rakyat.

Elaborating further, Nik Muhammad Zawawi said the programme aims to empower the rural agro-food community in addition to conveying information about the government’s latest approaches and policies directly to the people. — Bernama
