KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 ― Bursa Malaysia continued to trend lower at mid-afternoon on profit-taking in selected heavyweights, led by the industrial products and services as well as the telecommunication stocks.
At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM KLCI) fell by 7.58 points to 1,372.99 from yesterday's close of 1,380.57.
The benchmark index opened 4.29 points higher at 1,384.86.
On the broader market, decliners surpassed gainers 476 to 268, while 343 counters were unchanged, 1,259 untraded and nine others suspended.
Total volume stood at 1.27 billion units worth RM922.63 million.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank eased by four sen to RM8.47, Public Bank gave up three sen to RM4.19 and Petronas Chemicals dropped 16 sen to RM8.39, while CIMB rose two sen to RM5.32 and IHH Healthcare gained six sen to RM5.60.
Of the actives, Top Glove added four sen to 67.5 sen, Citaglobal inched down 2.5 sen to 26 sen and MYEG gave up three sen to 85 sen, while Supermax rose five sen to 76 sen and Hartalega advanced eight sen to RM1.81.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index weakened 48.91 points to 9,803.49, the FBM 70 went down 49.72 points to 11,889.64, the FBMT 100 Index depreciated 49.70 points to 9,554.31, the FBM Emas Shariah Index declined 60.74 points to 9,760.89, and the FBM ACE went down by 21.17 points to 4,610.20.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 32.84 points lower at 15,890.93, the Industrial Products and Services Index inched down 1.17 points to 168.07, the Plantation Index declined 50.73 points to 6,313.79, and the Energy Index slid 6.19 points to 668.59. ― Bernama
