PETALING JAYA, May 18 — Grab today unveiled its plans to make its mobile app more than just a means to book a ride.

It will expand to include on-demand food delivery, logistics, cashless payments and financial services.

In a briefing to media today, country head of Grab Malaysia Sean Goh said the company is in a position to power the new services because of their interconnectedness.

"By building a technology platform that serves the most important everyday lifestyle needs of our consumers, we are benefitting an entire ecosystem of connected users who are not only passengers and driver partners, but also increasingly merchants and delivery partners,” said Goh.

Consumers in Malaysia will soon be able to enjoy the convenience of having their favourite food delivered to their doorstep. Grab's new demand food delivery service ,

GrabFood will enable consumers to order and pay for their food seamlessly through GrabPay while they enjoy Grab Reward Points for every order.

UberEats will be taken over by GrabFood and further expanded. This is part of their takeover of ride-hailing service Uber in the region.

Grab is currently piloting Grab Food in nine selected areas such as Sri Hartamas, Bangsar, Mont Kiara and Bukit Damansara to gather feedback.

It will also introduce Grab Pay as a mobile wallet to move Malaysians closer to being a cashless society.
