KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 — Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-afternoon, lifted by buying in heavyweight stocks led by the finance sector, dealers said.
At 3.00pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 10.49 points better at 1,862.76 after opening 11.97 points higher at 1,864.24 from Thursday’s close of 1,852.27.
Market breadth was positive with gainers leading losers 348 to 337 while 368 counters remained unchanged, 863 untraded and 78 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.05 billion shares worth RM892.49 million.
Among heavyweights, Maybank and
Top gainers, Nestle rose RM1.90 to RM138.40, Fraser & Neave put on 50 sen to RM35.96 and Malaysia Airports gained 21 sen to RM9.04.
For actives, EA Holdings-Warrants and Borneo Oil edged up half-a-sen each to one sen and 8.5 sen, respectively, while Sapura Energy, EA holdings and PUC eased half-a-sen each to 67 sen, 3.5 sen and 19.5 sen, respectively.
The FBM Emas Index was 61.87 points higher at 12,961.03, the FBMT 100 Index rose 60.65 points to 12,777.42 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index added 45.64 points to 13,085.75.
The FBM 70 improved 33.62 points to 15,285.97 and the FBM Ace gained 11.65 points to 5,287.36.
Sector-wise,the Finance Index increased 87.41 points to 18,308.89, the Industrial Index added 9.93 points to 3,210.57 and the Plantation Index edged up 2.05 points to 7,967.27. — Bernama
