KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 ― Bursa Malaysia extended earlier gains at mid-morning with the key index remained in the positive territory on buying support in selected heavyweights led by Digi.Com and Genting Malaysia.

Both counters advanced 11 sen to RM4.48 and RM5.19, respectively.

At 11.01am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 1.8 points to 1,870.27 from Friday’s close of 1,868.47.

On the broader market, losers outnumbered gainers 368 to 289, while 310 counters were unchanged, 928 untraded and 21 others suspended.

Volume stood at 1.13 billion units valued at RM537.25 million.

Among other heavyweights, TM added eight sen to RM5.50, TNB rose two sen to RM15.90, and both SimePLT and Astro added one sen to RM5.60 and RM1.99, respectively.

Petronas related counters, PetDag went up 36 sen to RM25.84, PChem increased four sen to RM8.44 and PetGas rose eight sen to RM18.10.

For actives, SapNRG bagged three sen to 77 sen, UMWOG inched up 1.5 sen to 31.5 sen, while SKH was half-a-sen lower at nine sen.

The FBM Emas Index was 9.15 points better at 13,138.67, the FBM Emas Shariah Index rose 4.81 points to 13,357.51, the FBM 70 advanced 11.22 points to 15,830.81, and the FBM Ace shed 21.41 points to 5,624.72.

The FBMT 100 Index, rose 11.59 points to 12,933.21.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index trimmed 20.43 points to 18,241.41, the Plantation Index lost 0.74 of-a-point to 8,053.79 and the Industrial Index shed 0.22 of-a-point to 3,220.76. ― Bernama
