KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 — Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning today, hampered by continued selling pressure in heavyweights.
At 11.05am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 5.11 points lower at 1,866.35 points, after opening 0.06 of-a-point easier at 1,871.40 from yesterday’s close of 1,871.46.
Market breadth was negative as losers led gainers 709 to 175, while 290 counters remained unchanged, 705 untraded and 48 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.03 billion shares worth RM771.27 million.
Of the heavyweights, IOI Corp abd RHB Bank fell nine sen each to RM4.70 and RM5.38 respectively, as IHH and TNB eased six sen each to RM6.05 and RM15.70, with CIMB four sen lower at RM7.25.
Among the active counters, Perisai Petroleum added 1.5 sen to 6.5 sen, Globaltec gained half-a-sen to 5.5 sen, while UMW O&G fell 1.5 sen to 31.5 sen, Sino Hua-An gave up 3.5 sen to 55.5 sen and AirAsia X was one sen easier at 42.5 sen.
Dutch Lady led the list of top losers by slipping RM2.58 to RM67.32, followed by Heng Yuan which trimmed RM2.12 to RM12.98, Thong Guan lost 52 sen to RM3.10, Ajinomoto inched down 48 sen to RM22.50 and Pos Malaysia shed 42 sen to RM4.00.
The FBM Emas Index declined 71.22 points to 13,277.74, the FBMT 100 Index decreased 63.21 points to 12,984.33, the FBM Emas Shariah Index weakened 79.39 points to 13,505.88 and the FBM 70 was 172.70 points lower at 16,160.43. The FBM Ace dipped 119.39 points to 6,225.06.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Index was 0.85 of-a-point easier at 3,246.08, the Plantation Index slid 34.48 points to 8,041.65 and the Finance Index fell 79.69 points to 18,219.46. — Bernama
