KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 — Pos Malaysia Bhd posted a lower net profit for the third quarter (Q3) ended Dec 31, 2017 at RM9.3 million compared with RM33.3 million in the corresponding quarter of 2016.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, it said, revenue fell to RM620.7 million from RM635.7 million previously, while its pre-tax profit eased to RM21.9 million from RM51.3 million previously due to higher operational costs.
In a separate statement, Pos Malaysia said, despite challenging operating conditions, it would continue to press ahead with its initiatives to become the premier e-commerce fulfilment and logistics services provider domestically, and in time, regionally.
It said the ongoing developments with respect to the Digital Free Trade Zone would continue to drive the rapid expansion of e-commerce domestically and regionally.
"These will underpin Pos Malaysia Group’s prospects, going forward.
"To this end, we will continue to invest in key technology platforms required for us to consolidate our leadership position in this market,” it said.
Pos Malaysia said that it was progressively digitalising its traditional postal services through online and mobile platforms to expand its market segments and improve the sustainability of its postal services operations in the digital era. — Bernama
