BNM international reserves at US$103.6b as at Feb 15

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 — Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) international reserves stood at US$103.6 billion (RM406.1 billion) as at Feb 15, 2018 from US$103.7 billion on Jan 30, 2018.

In a statement today, the central bank said the reserves were sufficient to finance 7.1 months of retained imports and were 1.1 times the short-term external debt.

BNM said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$97 billion), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$0.8 billion), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$1.2 billion), gold (US$1.5 billion), and other reserve assets (US$3.1 billion).

The assets include gold and foreign exchange and other reserves, including SDRs (RM419.06 billion), Malaysian government papers (RM4.46 billion), deposits with financial institutions (RM8.38 billion), loans and advances (RM7.55 billion), land and buildings (RM4.18 billion), and other assets (RM10.28 billion), it added. — Bernama
