KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 ― Bursa Malaysia extended higher at mid-morning today, lifted by gains on Petronas Dagangan.
At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,726.2, up 5.52 points from yesterday’s close of 1,720.68.
The index opened 3.91 points stronger at 1,724.59.
Petronas Dagangan topped the gainers list, jumping 68 sen to RM23.98, followed by KESM, chalking-up 50 sen to RM19.80 and Heineken garnering 34 sen to RM17.66.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index increased 61.69 points to 12,426.27, the FBMT 100 Index firmed 55.67 points to 12,080.65 and the FBM Ace rose 48.51 points to 6,385.1.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index went up 70.54 points to 12,887.39 and the FBM 70 surged 133.55 points to 15,279.58.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index added 50.199 points to 15,987.93, the Plantation Index increased 11.91 points to 7,931.22 and the Industrial Index went up 7.64 points to 3,168.28.
On the broader market, gainers outpaced losers 443 to 238, while 317 counters remained unchanged with 886 untraded and 31 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 839.58 million shares worth RM564.62 million.
Among heavyweights, Maybank added two sen to RM9.23, Public Bank gained four sen to RM20.36, Sime Darby earned one sen to RM8.98, Petronas Chemicals perked nine sen to RM7.32, while TNB lost four sen to RM14.84.
Among actives, Palette Multimedia gained 3.5 sen to 35 sen, Berjaya Corp added one sen to 41 sen, while Trive Property was flat at seven sen.
CSL and DGB Asia slipped half-a-sen each to four sen and 13.5 sen, respectively. ― Bernama
