In a statement today, TNB said, TNB Remaco and GMR Energy would set up a refurbishment and maintenance facility in India.
"This will be TNB Remaco’s first refurbishment and maintenance facility outside Malaysia,” it said.
TNB said TNB Remaco and GMR Energy will provide power plant operations and maintenance, performance improvement, testing and diagnostic services under the memorandum of understanding inked with GMR Energy.
"GMR Energy, under the same three-year agreement, will identify business opportunities for the collabouration, and also identify and provide a suitable location for the facility,” it said.
Prior to the establishment of the facility in India, refurbishments works will be performed by TNB Remaco at its facility in Malaysia, it said. Both parties had the option to extend the deal through mutual written agreement, it said.
TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Azman Mohd, said the venture was a manifestation of TNB’s drive for international expansion by leveraging on its strategic equity holding in GMR Energy.
"We are taking a long-term view in India and aim to unleash our respective strengths to create a strong TNB foothold and maximise opportunities inherent in the Indian power industry.
"We are also looking to expand our expertise and business reach in the transmission and distribution space in India through GMR Energy,” he said. — Bernama
