KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-afternoon today, weighed down by losses in heavyweights.
At 3.01pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,741.08, down 13.59 points from Tuesday’s close of 1,754.67.
Earlier, the index opened 6.92 points weaker at 1,747.75.
On the broader market, decliners outpaced gainers by 658 to 220 with 333 counters unchanged, 519 untraded and 16 others suspended.
Turnover was at 2.11 billion shares worth RM1.39 billion.
Among heavyweights, Maybank lost six sen to RM8.94, Sime Darby declined seven sen to RM9.23, while Public Bank and TNB both fell 12 sen to RM19.96 and RM13.66, respectively.
Of the actives, Daya Materials added one sen to nine sen, Naim Indah rose half-a-sen to 10.5 sen, while Sumatec and PDZ Holdings were both flat at 7.5 sen and seven sen, respectively.
The FBM Emas Index declined 87.31 points to 12,319.04, the FBMT 100 Index was 85.76 points lower at 11,972.89 and the FBM 70 Index was 73.63 points weaker at 14,356.29.
The FBM Emas Syariah Index decreased 69.11 points to 12,726.88 and the FBM Ace lost 73.27 points to 5,539.66.
On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index slipped 136.21 points to 15,691.84, the Plantation Index fell 16.03 points to 8,184.38 and the Industrial Index was 22.55 points weaker at 3,261.47. — Bernama
