KL shares stay firmer at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 — Bursa Malaysia stayed firmer at mid-morning today lifted by gains in selected heavyweights and blue-chips like CIMB Group, Dutch Lady and trade/service counters, dealers said.

At 11.07am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,658.72, up 11.10 points against yesterday’s close of 1,647.62. It opened 4.75 points higher at 1,652.37.

Of the heavyweights, TNB added two sen to RM14.30, Maybank perked nine sen to RM7.96, Public Bank improved 12 sen to RM19.80, Petronas Chemicals declined one sen to RM6.90 and PetGas was flat at RM21.98.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index went up 83.88 points to 11,660.14, the FBMT100 Index firmed 80.01 points to 11,372.79 but the FBM Emas Syariah Index was 65.22 points higher at 12,220.15.

The FBM Ace jumped 80.39 points to 4,991.75 and the FBM 70 rose 109.15 points to 13,449.95.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index increased 157.24 points to 14,493.23, the Plantation Index was 42.44 points higher at 7,748.50 and the Industrial Index improved 2.93 points to 3,139.67.

Gainers edged losers 522 to 138 while 258 counters were unchanged, 770 untraded and 24 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 671.33 million shares worth RM501.84 million.

Among actives, AirAsia X earned half-a-sen to 43.5 sen while Vivocom, TA Global and Hibiscus inched up one sen each to 18 sen, 26 sen and 30 sen respectively. — Bernama
