KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — Bursa Malaysia was marginally higher at mid-afternoon today on mild buying demand in selected heavyweight counters, dealers said.
At 3pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,6487.10, up 0.02 of a point, after opening 1.41 points lower at 1,658.19.
Losers outpaced gainers 385 to 289, while 355 counters were unchanged, 692 untraded and 16 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 781.24 million shares worth RM857.17 million.
Of the heavyweights, TNB rose four sen to RM14.32, Maybank and Petronas Chemicals slipped three sen each to RM7.75 and RM6.91, respectively, while Public Bank gave up two sen to RM19.82.
Among actives, Sinotop gained 1.5 sen to 11 sen, AirAsia X and Metronic earned half-a-sen each to 44 sen and eight sen, respectively, while Sterling Progress was flat at 3.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index fell 10.71 points to 11,603.67, FBMT100 Index shed 7.51 points to 11,313.68 and the FBM 70 lost 36.82 points to 13,479.47.
The FBM Emas Syariah Index dipped 17.59 points to 12,214.43 and the FBM Ace eased 5.14 points to 4,997.79.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index declined 17.12 points to 14,284.86, Industrial Index gave up 5.05 points to 3,134.41 and the Plantation Index erased 17.71 points to 7,767.41. — Bernama
