KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 — Bursa Malaysia turned slightly lower at mid-morning today, on emerging profit taking in heavyweights after recent gains, dealers said.
At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,670.10, down 0.17 of-a-point from Friday's close of 1,670.27, after opening 6.56 points higher at 1,676.83.
The FBM Emas Index fell 17.07 points to 11,766.83, the FBMT100 Index declined 14.39 points to 11,471.36, while the FBM Emas Syariah Index slid 33.20 points to 12,390.10.
The FBM 70 decreased 64.93 points to 13,691.52, while the FBM Ace shed 42.25 points to 5,071.48.
On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index gained 6.22 points to 3,163.73, the Finance Index declined 19.02 points to 14,502.03, while the Plantation Index eased 68.77 points to 7,888.74.
On the broader market, market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers 390 to 182, while 301 counters were unchanged, 780 untraded and 32 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 511.33 billion shares worth RM329.23 million.
Among actives, Kinsteel, Sumatec and Asia Media were flat at three sen, six sen and 25.5 sen respectively, while RGB International earned half-a-sen to 21.5 sen.— AFP-Bernama
