Bursa Malaysia remains lower at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 ― Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning today as weak global sentiment continued influencing investor interest, dealers said.

At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,675.17, down 2.26 points against Tuesday's close of 1,677.43.

A dealer said interest on global bourses retreated on growing concerns over an oil glut.

Losers led gainers 332 to 206, while 326 counters were unchanged, 815 untraded and 67 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 513.54 million shares worth RM413.93 million.              

For the heavyweights, TNB declined two sen to RM14.34, Petronas Chemicals was flat at RM6.99, Maybank and Public Bank increased two sen each to RM7.92 and RM19.80 respectively and IHH Healthcare fell one sen to RM6.43.

Of the gainer counters, Tanah Makmur improved 10 sen to RM1.82, Kobay added 12 sen to RM1.45 and FGV gained nine sen to RM2.25.

The FBM Emas Index trimmed 15.68 points to 11,814.33, the FBM Ace slipped 27.24 points to 5,145.05 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index eased 18.30 points to 12,411.46.

The FBMT100 Index fell 14.32 points to 11,514.91 and the FBM 70 lost 12.66 points to 13,775.07.

On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index gave up 6.15 points for 14,561.31, with the Industrial Index declining 8.27 points to 3,149.47 and the Plantation Index rising 25.79 points to 7,950.78. ― Bernama
